Our poor girl. The littlest thing sets her off and she's in melt down. Usually after we've given her some correction or direction. We know it's not about that though. It's about trust and loss. She wants to be close but pushes us away. We let her be, assuring her with words and with touch (which she angrily rejects). This evening after more than an hour, I forced her into my lap and I rocked her and prayed and sung songs (Merwyn was there too). She calmed down, but it took more time for her to want to engage with us happily. We had a good evening after that.
Today, we were called back without much warning back to La Casa where Karen had been staying. She was excited to go! She had fun. She even made me a bracelet. Actually, she brought me a bracelet. I don't know where she got it. It was as soon as we arrived home that she fell apart (after Merwyn told her to put her water in the fridge). Grief. That was her home. More people to say goodbye too. Poor thing.
Please pray for her. Please pray that our response is exactly what she needs.
I wanted to write more...about our trip up Monserrate in a cable car, fun at the park, and other things. But it's late. Hopefully soon!

PS- we have our appt with the Defenders of Children tomorrow. This is the 1st step in the legal process. Please pray we are assigned a quick judge and a judge that doesn't use the "extra step".
Gracias!
Praying, friend. Lots of love, reassurance, patience, mercy and consistency is what she will need as I know you know this. Praying for you to be home within a month.
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it ... She is grieving. But this will pass in time. Know you are doing exactly what you need to do, you are letting her grieve with compassion and sensitivity. You may feel you fail her at times, but you aren't. You are still there for her! Keeping you in our daily prayers!!!
ReplyDeleteForgive me for being behind on reading your blog...catching up.
ReplyDeletePraying you all have instantaneous wisdom each time to know how to talk, touch, listen and interact with Karen.
