Do you remember the movie Romancing the Stone? It came out sometime in the 80's. I think I went to see it with my parents...weird. Anyway, after that it was on cable all the time.
I loved that movie! The characters, Joan and Jack are in Colombia and are headed to...Cartegena! And tomorrow, we are headed to Cartegena too! It will be nice to get away for a while and just have fun.
Here in Bogota, it's pretty boring. It's a nice city but it can be expensive to do touristy things for 4 weeks (so far!). We're also limited by Joel's heel pain, so we can't do a lot of walking. We can take cabs, but again, that costs. We've gotten around the city a bit and also seen some things outside the city. We enjoy the people we are staying with her, but they are also finalizing their plans here. Maybe new people will come in...
All that to say, we need a change of scenery. So we're going to the coast! Here is in Bogota it is typically somewhere around 67 degrees. We're in the mountains so it's cooler. It also rains nearly every day- most of the time just a bit. But in Cartegena...we hear 90's and humid! So we're in for a change.
Karen is doing well and we are doing well with her. So much more to learn and speaking the same language will help. We are learning that she likes to be helpful and she likes to take care of people. We have a couple babies staying here now and today she was finding toys and setting the toys up for them. She enjoys being around younger children and helping them out. She likes to help me out too- she goes with me to the laundry room and helps me transfer the clothing.
We got the news today that the judge accepted our case (finally!). We were told by our attorney that now, but law, there is 10 days for all signatures. That's 10 business days. So we are very happy at this moment, to be leaving town for our change of scenery.
Now, off to bed to get up early, finish packing to go find Jack and Joan...
Ciao!
YES!!! Every time I saw the word Cartegena when you or Merwyn posted on facebook, I thought of Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your change of scenery and watch out for crocodiles.
